Genlec has been appointed to carry out all mechanical and electrical works at the redevelopment and conversion of Victorian Mather Mill in Leigh under a £2million contract.
The re-branded, ‘Loom Wharf’, is an iconic building which dates back to 1882 occupying an area of some 100,000 square foot. Having lain partially empty for over a decade, the Mill is now being developed into a modern residential complex under a £13million redevelopment programme.
Under the scheme, 100 one, two and three-bedroom apartments are being created over seven storeys with facilities including basement parking, a cinema and state of the art gymnasium. Genlec, whose head office is also based in Leigh, will carry out all mechanical, electrical and plumbing works – work is now underway and is expected to be completed in January next year.

The project marks a cornerstone in the regeneration of Leigh, creating a stylish living complex in the heart of the town, ideal for commuters, first time buyers and downsizers.

The install is challenging, encompassing all 100 apartments as well as communal areas. This scheme has cultivated a huge sense of pride from within the Genlec team where local skilled tradesmen on site are making a tangible difference within their own community.”
